Romania: “2012 Congress in Bucharest” EPP President announces

The President of the European People's Party (EPP), Wilfried Martens, who is in Bucharest today for the summer university of the European Ideas Network (EIN), announced that the EPP will hold it's 2012 statutory Congress in Bucharest, Romania. The EPP President had the opportunity to meet with President Traian Băsescu, Prime Minister and PD-L President Emil Boc, and Minister of Culture and UDMR President Hunor Kelemen. Martens will also meet with Moldovan Prime Minister and PLDM President Vlad Filat and Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.   “It is my great pleasure to announce today the decision of the EPP Political Assembly: the next EPP statutory Congress will take place in Bucharest in the fall of 2012!   “The Congress will feature all our EU and non-EU heads of state and government, our 13 members of the European Commission, our 264 members from our Group in the European Parliament, and hundreds of delegates from our 74 member-parties.   “This decision is also a clear recognition that the PD-L/UDMR government has taken the right decisions to ensure and safeguard long-term growth and prosperity for Romania. The measures that Prime Minister Boc took are brave and will protect Romania from any future crisis. I am convinced that Romanians will soon recognize the benefits of these decisions and will not be swayed by the populist cries of the left,” underlined the EPP President.
